Borscht fellowships equip the next generation of independent filmmakers in Miami with the resources to tell their stories at the highest level. Miami is home to a trove of stories that remain untold given film’s prohibitively expensive tools and training, exacerbated by regional brain drain. Accordingly, our fellowships provide 360° development in film and grassroots operations management with program curriculums rooted in artistic excellence and iterative hands-on learning. By increasing opportunities for emerging filmmakers to create, present, and receive feedback on new works; expanding filmmakers’ creative and professional skill-sets to facilitate self-sufficiency as cultural producers; and growing fellows’ network of collaborators and mentors to illustrate resourceful, low-budget filmmaking processes, Borscht’s Fellowship Program ensures local filmmakers leave with the experience and connections to run their own film sets, festivals, and other endeavors.
